Stormbane’s first public combat playtest is approaching.
This early test is focused on a small playable environment where we can validate the feel of melee combat, enemy behaviour, encounter pacing, and the foundations of the moment-to-moment experience.
Combat first
The goal of this playtest is not to show every system at once.
Instead, the focus is deliberately narrow: combat feel, basic encounter flow, AI enemy behaviour, and how the player reads danger in a live environment.
That means timing, positioning, attacks, reactions, movement, and enemy pressure are all more important than broad content volume at this stage.
Why this test matters
Internal testing can reveal a lot, but players always interact with systems differently.
A public combat test gives us a better view of where the experience feels clear, where it feels confusing, what feels satisfying, and what needs to be adjusted before larger systems are layered on top.
This is especially important for Stormbane because combat is one of the foundations everything else depends on.
What we are watching
During the test, we will be paying close attention to how melee encounters feel, how AI enemies behave, how quickly players understand combat situations, and where frustration appears.
Feedback from this stage will help shape the next round of combat improvements and playtest preparation.
What comes next
After this first combat-focused test, we will review feedback, refine the core experience, and continue preparing Stormbane for broader playtesting.
